Successful Operation for Tinker
22.07.2003 09:09
Tinker Juarez, Siemens mobile Cannondale’s ace 24 hour rider, had a successful operation for a fractured hip last week. Tinker’s injury occurred from a fall in the 24 hours race in Munich on July 5th. He flew home to Los Angeles for the operation where a screw was inserted to replace the chipped bone in his hip. An MRI scan revealed a further small fracture in the hip area which also required the insertion of a screw.Tinker:“This was my first operation in cycling, it wasn’t a big deal though with the surgery just taking 1 ½ hours. I was able to go home after the operation and being in my own bed will certainly help me recuperate faster. I am sad to miss the Transalp race but hope to be back on my bike soon and my aim is to compete in the 24 hours of Boise from 9-10 August.”
